Intensive Couple Therapy is a therapeutic journey designed to help couples make significant progress with their specific’s issues / needs in a shorter period of time. Unlike traditional one hour weekly Couple Therapy, Intensive therapy is 15-25 hours of therapy spread over only few weeks and structured in 3 phases: the intake phase, the Intensive Therapy phase (2 full consecutive days broken into 90min sessions), and the follow-up phase.
This form of relationship counselling provides a significant support in a short among of time to address pressing issues, facilitate rapid progress towards healing, and mitigate the frustrations often experienced by the need to wait an entire week between sessions or by the limitation of the format that one hour offers. This frustration can sometimes lead to added tension and conflict between sessions, resulting in more hurt and resentment to unpack during therapy. However, with Intensive Couple Therapy, couples can bypass this cycle by immersing themselves fully in the therapeutic process. By addressing issues in real-time and without interruption, couples can prevent further escalation of conflicts and minimize the accumulation of hurt feelings. This streamlined approach allows for more efficient and effective healing to take place during therapy sessions, facilitate meaningful insights and breakthroughs, ultimately leading to greater progress and satisfaction in the therapeutic process.
Intensive Couple Therapy is becoming increasingly more popular as scientific research keep adding evidence that supports its efficacy in promoting positive relationship outcomes. Studies have shown that couples who participate in Intensive Couple Therapy experience significant improvements in relationship satisfaction, communication, and overall well-being faster than in traditional Couple Therapy.
Intensive Couple Therapy process

Step 1 – In take phase
Before embarking on our Intensive Couple Therapy journey, we’ll begin with a thorough intake process to identify issues, explore both your individual histories and the dynamics of your partnership. This comprehensive assessment will help us pinpoint areas for growth and set specific outcome goals for our work together.
Step 2 – Intensive Therapy phase
Over the course of two full consecutive days, we’ll engage in focused sessions where I’ll provide specific interventions to support your relationship in moving forward based on the issues identified in the intake process. In general, we will address unresolved issues, learn new skills, and lay the foundation for a stronger, more resilient partnership.
Step 3 – Follow-up phase
Following our Intensive Therapy sessions, we’ll schedule four follow-up sessions to help solidify the changes made during our work together. These sessions are progressively spaced out from two to eight weeks and are designed to support you in applying the skills learned during Intensive Couple Therapy to your everyday life. This “fade” phase ensures the longevity of the changes made and helps to prevent relapse, setting you and your partner on a path towards lasting relationship success.
